This year, Maastricht University (UM) celebrates its 50th anniversary. Located in the heart of Europe, at the crossroads of borders and cultures, UM has grown into a leading international university recognised for its academic excellence, innovative educational model, and strong interdisciplinary approach.

Since its founding, collaboration and societal impact have been central to the University’s mission: working together towards a better tomorrow.

Strengthening Franco-Dutch Collaboration

Maastricht University’s membership of the Netherlands France Chamber of Commerce (NFCC) further reinforces this mission by deepening ties with the Franco-Dutch business community. Through this partnership, new opportunities emerge for international collaboration, internships, applied research, and knowledge exchange — bringing real-world business challenges directly into education and research.

Connecting Education with Business Practice

Close engagement with practice is a defining feature of UM’s educational philosophy. At the School of Business and Economics (SBE), this approach is embodied in two flagship international case challenges.

International Case Competition Maastricht (ICC@M)
Taking place in May 2026, ICC@M connects companies with sixteen student teams from leading business schools worldwide. During an intensive programme, participants work on real-life business cases addressing entrepreneurship, digitalisation, responsible leadership, and sustainability.

Global Innovation Challenge (GIC)
In June 2026, the Global Innovation Challenge brings together graduate students from eight internationally accredited institutions. Over two weeks, high-performing multicultural teams collaborate to tackle challenges faced by innovative start-ups, SMEs, and family businesses, delivering actionable insights and testing new ideas.

Partnering for the Future

To mark its 50th anniversary, Maastricht University invites forward-thinking organisations to contribute business cases and engage directly with the next generation of international business leaders.

Partner organisations benefit from fresh international perspectives, targeted external insights, and early access to future talent — while strengthening cross-border collaboration between France and the Netherlands.
