The Netherlands France Chamber of Commerce (NFCC) had the distinguished honour of participating in a landmark event in Toulouse, held as part of the ongoing Franco-Dutch Trade Mission. The high-level reception, which took place in the historic Salle des Illustres at the Capitole de Toulouse, was graced by the presence of Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands.

This prestigious evening, hosted by Mr. Jean-Luc Moudenc, Mayor of Toulouse and President of Toulouse Métropole, served as a powerful symbol of the enduring and deepening relationship between the Netherlands and France. It brought together more than 80 Dutch companies operating across a range of sectors, united by a common objective: to expand their presence in the French market and to foster meaningful partnerships with French stakeholders.

A Shared Vision for Innovation and Sustainability

The reception was not merely ceremonial—it was a forum for substantive dialogue and collaboration. As representatives of both the public and private sectors convened, the strategic importance of Franco-Dutch cooperation came sharply into focus. Conversations throughout the evening underscored a shared commitment to advancing innovation, sustainability, and industrial excellence.

In particular, three key sectors emerged as focal points of discussion and future cooperation:

  • Aviation (Civil & Military): Toulouse, as the European capital of aerospace, provides fertile ground for joint innovation. The convergence of Dutch technological know-how and French industrial leadership opens promising pathways for cooperation in next-generation aviation technologies, sustainability in air travel, and dual-use applications in civil and defense contexts.

  • Agricultural Innovation & Food Technology: With increasing global pressure on food systems, Dutch and French companies are ideally positioned to co-develop solutions that promote efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and enhance food security. Ongoing dialogue in this sector highlighted several pilot projects and R&D initiatives with cross-border potential.

  • Floating Offshore Wind Energy: As Europe accelerates its transition to clean energy, floating offshore wind presents an exciting frontier. Dutch expertise in maritime engineering and offshore infrastructure complements French ambitions in renewable energy development, setting the stage for high-impact collaborations.

A Platform for New Opportunities

Looking Ahead

Throughout the evening, participants engaged in open and insightful exchanges with policy makers, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders. These discussions revealed not only a strong foundation of existing partnerships, but also a wealth of untapped opportunities for future cooperation.

NFCC was proud to play an active role in facilitating these connections and looks forward to supporting Dutch enterprises as they explore strategic entry points into the French market. The event also served as a testament to the critical role of bilateral chambers in enabling business diplomacy and fostering cross-cultural collaboration.

As we reflect on the success of this reception, we are reminded that economic diplomacy is built not only on shared interests, but on mutual respect, cultural exchange, and a commitment to collective progress. The presence of Their Majesties underscored the importance of this mission and lent renewed momentum to the long-standing ties between our two nations.

At NFCC, we remain dedicated to advancing these ties by supporting businesses, facilitating partnerships, and advocating for policies that strengthen the Franco-Dutch economic corridor.

We extend our sincere thanks to the City of Toulouse, our institutional partners, and all participating companies for their commitment and engagement. Together, we are building the future of European innovation—one partnership at a time.
